Diagnosed!

Pretty sure anyone that has read my blog for the last little while knows that there is something wrong inside of me.  Yesterday I had a colonoscopy.  I was dreading the prep!  Honestly, it wasn't very fun but if you think that it is just going to be so horrible, it doesn't turn out so bad.  I was SO hungry though.  2 days with only liquids with laxatives is rough.  I was out for the entire procedure then when I was awake the doctor came in to give me the prognosis.  I was seriously hoping so bad that maybe I had a couple things that could have been fixed then and there and just heal.  Nope.  It turns out I have minor ulcerative colitis.

What is that, you say?

Well, part of my colon is inflamed and that is why I have all these stomach and bathroom issues.  It is an incurable disease, but we can get it in to remission and keep it there.  It is a good thing mine is the "minor" colitis because those that have it full on have huge health issues.  To the point where their whole colon is inflamed and sometimes requires heavy duty surgery.  I will have some medication everyday for the next 4-6 weeks then we check to see if it has gone in to remission or not.  We're hoping it does because if it doesn't I may need more medication that may effect my future pregnancies.  So if you could send me your good thoughts and prayers that would be greatly appreciated!!  They sure got me through the days of prep.

I'm eating again and it feels so nice!  Even though I have to take it easy for the next day or so, even a little bit tastes so good.

Thank you all for your support, I've been feeling the love!

Just wanted you to know I was thinking of you. Adam has Crohns disease (also an incurable disease in his intestines.) and with meds he has done great. He has been off meds for a while and doing great. I know there is always a chance for a flare up but we feel really blessed that he has been so healthy the last few years.
I will keep you in my prayers and thoughts that all will go well.
Love Kerri

Britta, oh my goodness! I can't imagine what you've been through! That's absolutely crazy. I've never even heard of minor ulcerative colitis. (apparently neither has my computer since it underlined it with the red squigglies.) I love you Britta and I hope this will all be sorted out soon.
