Only 1 more year of Utah

Its days like these when I wished I was as strong as David is at blocking people out.  And I don't mean on the court.

The University of Utah just hired a new basketball coach to replace David's last coach.  I really hope the best for him and for the team.  I read the news report on Deseret News and went to the comment board to hopefully see some supportive comments.  Well, I was entirely wrong.  It was drenched in negativity and demeaning laughter coming from their biggest rival... BYU.  Now I understand that those that comment may only be a very small percentage of their population, but there they are hoping for the worst for Davids team and laughing at the shortcomings that the team has had in recent years.

I have family and friends that I dearly love that go or have gone to BYU that would never say those sort of things about anyone, even their arch-rival.  I also have some friends and family that definitely would say those sorts of things only to their arch-rival.  To the aforementioned, I'm sorry you have to associate with such negative individuals.  Reading those posts made me want to leave the state so bad because I'm disappointed to be around such hypocritical people.  I understand that there are the same kind of people at the U of U but come on, do you really want that to be your excuse as to why you can make these sort of comments?

I don't see this sort of situation clearing up anytime soon, it comes with sports especially when people take things personally.  Like apparently what I am doing this morning.  Its funny how the athletes are the ones that probably care the least about the rivalry.  I wish I could block out the critics like they do.

At this point I just need to learn to block it all out.  The individuals who comment are not worth my time and emotions.  I guess I was just expecting more of the state of Utah, but it just shows that we are human and thus make mistakes.

Hopefully I can cheer up and focus the rest of the day!
